Christianity: A Balloon Waiting to be Popped?

I think the world often sees Christianity as a big balloon that’s just waiting to be popped. There’s just so many different angles you can attack it from. It’s got so many pins pressed against it from all sides that it just doesn’t seem like something you could possibly have a solid foundation in. Yet there’s something peculiar about this big balloon… it doesn’t seem to have been popped yet!?
As a great number of ‘experts’ push their pins deep into this balloon, the world looks away, thinking that there’s not a chance of it surviving. If only they opened their eyes!
The truth is that this balloon has not been popped, not ever. And the reason for that, is that it’s not a balloon at all. I like to think of it as something resembling a medicine ball, with two layers:

Faith: Pins get inserted from almost every angle, and it hurts. Each pin causes us to doubt more and more. Some people give up hope when things get too tough, but the key is realising that this faith has a solid foundation.
Truth: The layer that frustrates every attempt against it, and gives support to those who understand it. Nothing can even scratch its surface; and it resolves any doubts we have, if we chose to listen to it.
For such a massive religion, with so many critics, and so many areas for criticism; it’s a wonder why more people don’t ponder why they can’t actually pop this ‘balloon’.
So when you’re feeling like your faith is getting pocked around by all the different pins in this life, just remember that they can only go so deep. When people fall away, it’s often because of all the pressures combined; when they forget about the solid foundation and are overwhelmed with doubt and deception. Never because they’ve managed to disprove Christianity.
So remember: not a fragile balloon, but solid capital ‘T’ Truth.
