Xfce: Volume Keys Too Sensitive

When using a keyboard’s media keys in Xfce, you might find that the volume buttons are too sensitive. By default, the volume keys will affect the volume by 10%. This can be changed in the keyboard shortcut settings:

  1. Settings Manager > Keyboard > Shortcuts
  2. Create a new theme if you haven’t already and change the “XF86Audio…Volume” commands

Personally I changed aumix -v+10 (or -10) to 5, but 1 will be the least sensitive.

Tested in Xubuntu
